Nice Dinner

Went to this lovely quaint restaurant for dinner on Thursday to celebrate Angeline's birthday. Nice cosy place and not too crowded or noisy. Janelle was the noisiest customer there with her babbling that almost amounted to shouting. And it sure looks as though we're celebrating Janelle's 1st birthday from the pictures! Haha :)

Clap Hands

Janelle's first claps at 8 months 1 week old :)

Clap Hands!

Finally! Janelle has learnt to clap her hands today! We've been teaching her how to clap her hands since the day she was born but to no avail until today. Haha :) Check out the video of her clapping her hands :)

Janelle's 2nd Swim!

Brought our little girl for a dip in pool late this morning but she didn't enjoy herself!! Think she was scared of the water and kept clinging on to me so tightly. Tried putting her in the float but she didn't seem to like being confined to the float. We spent more time trying to reassure her and making her have fun, than really having fun itself! She was like the only baby/kid in the pool to look so unhappy...it was as though we tortured her by bringing her to the pool!

This is really strange because since she enjoys her bath times so much, a logical deduction would be that she would enjoy the pool too. But i guess babies defy logic! Ha

Managed to catch some pictures of her - all with eyes half-closed due to the brightness of the sun! And she sure doesn't look too happy in these photos! Haha

Wern & Lynn's Wedding

Yesterday we celebrated and helped coordinate Wern & Lynn's wedding! It was our great joy to be able to see them getting married because, after all, we were the ones who kind of like introduced them to each other

Was pleasantly surprised that we could still enjoy ourselves (especially for the morning part) because usually wedding coordinators have no time to really enjoy the whole thing. But the evening part was really hectic, i must say. Had to settle lots of last minute interesting crop-ups!

It was a beautiful wedding and the couple looked really fantastic together! So glad that we managed to take at least 1 nice picture with this beautiful couple!

Janelle at Camp (18 - 21 Sept 06)

Check out these pictures of Janelle being pampered by everyone at camp and see how she thoroughly enjoyed herself!

Janelle's First Camp!

At just 8 months old, Janelle must have been one of the youngest around to attend her very first camp! She did her 9am-5pm duty at camp from Monday to Thursday, and was so warmly welcomed by all the students. She was like the centre of attention during the camp, and so loved by all. So blessed

What a great privilege she had to attend a camp at this tender young age! I don't think many other babies have this opportunity or privilege to go for camps. She's so blessed to have so many other kor-kors and jie-jies playing with her! And it was a great camp we had - to see lives changed and challenged by God. Praise God!

Midway thru Camp & Surprises!

Two days of Camp have gone by, with Janelle being really welcomed at camp. Will update more stuff on camp after Thursday when camp's over! Meanwhile, check out this picture of her on the pink mat that literally dropped from heaven (refer to previous blog entry).

Janelle turns 8 months old today (19 Sept) and she's getting really cheeky, naughty and "manja", and having more of a mind of her own! Had some surprises lately.

Surprise 1: Janelle rejected food for the very first time!! And it was not because the food wasn't tasty - but because she didn't want to be fed by others when i'm not around! When i returned and tried feeding her, she happily finished up everything - much to the indignation of those who attempted (without success) to feed her.

Surprise 2: Teething! Felt something sharp on her lower jaw and saw a tiny incisor peeking out of her gums. And it's CROOKED!! Oh my. Suddenly feel concerned whether will she end up having crooked baby teeth...that will be so sad! But then again, this is such a superficial concern.

Surprise 3: Tissue-paper Galore! Woke up this morning and got a shock when i saw her...check out this picture. This was the exact state of how i found her to be - standing up in her cot and half her cot littered with tissue paper that she had been helping herself to! *faint* Shouldn't have put the tissue box so near her cot. Oh well.

Providence!!

Been putting small little mats for Janelle to crawl around in office, but these mats are never big enough even after combining 2 mats together! Was just thinking how wonderful it would be if i could get hold of something like a playmat which is big and "cushiony" enough, though i was reluctant to spend too exhorbitant a sum on such a mat.

Furthermore, in view of the fact that Janelle would be coming along with me to the Gospel Camp next week, all the more i had to get hold of something for her to crawl around on and to sleep on. And guess what?? We went to Royston's Ah Ma's house on Friday (yesterday) because we happened to be around that area. Dropped in unannounced and not even sure whether there would be anyone home! - Not only were we greeted with hot drinks and cakes and desserts, we were even given a brand-new large pink cushioned mat for Janelle to lie on!

I marvel at God's providence...at how He provides even for little things like a mat for baby :) Now she will have a proper mat to lie / crawl on for camp next week!

Reluctant Servant

After several months of consideration and prayer, I (Angeline) have decided to continue serving with FES next year, even though the desire of my heart is to stop working to stay home and take care of Janelle.

The main reason for me wanting to stop work was because Janelle would turn one next year, and possibly can walk or would be learning to walk. It would get increasingly difficult (as it already is) to handle both her and ministry, or even to bring her around with me to office. But this decision to continue serving is a response to God's call. Really sense God asking me to trust in Him - in His providence - as I continue to work. For it is when we are weak, that God shows Himself strong :)

Also, I have been tremendously blessed by my boss and colleagues in FES, who not only have allowed me to bring Janelle to office, but have also kindly helped me take care of her on so many occasions! All this grace and love was showered upon Janelle (and me) despite her making lots of noise in office - her crying, testing of vocal range, and rants of "daa-daa-daa".

We are indeed very blessed!

Unreliable stool...

It's getting more challenging these days trying to ensure that Janelle doesn't injure herself, especially now that she's more active and trying to pull herself to stand up all the time!

This morning, she was crawling around on the floor and found her way to a 4-legged stool. Instinctively, she pulled on the leg of the stool in an attempt to stand up, but the stool was not stable enough to bear her 7.4kg frame and she fell on the back of her head, with the stool on top of her body. She was stunned for a moment (i actually thought she looked quite funny lying on the floor with the stool on top of her body!), and then burst out wailing inconsolably. I had to hold, comfort and reassure her...though I must say it was a struggle for me to suppress my laughter at her comical sight!

Poor girl...she now has a red mark on her forehead caused by the weight of stool as she fell down.

Well done, Royston!

Do you feel that Royston deserved to be complimented?

Yes, he did a great job handling baby alone! If I were him, I would probably have freaked out.

 15

Not really, because it would boost his ego too much. Haha.

 3

No, because she is after all his baby, so it should be manageable for him to handle her on his own!

Last night Royston brought Janelle out to Rasa Sentosa (all by himself!) with Wern and Lynn for dinner, and to tie up details on their wedding. I (Angeline) was not able to make it due to work commitments. I was, at first, a little apprehensive as to whether Royston would be able to cope bringing Janelle out on his own, since he also had to feed her dinner and milk. But not only did he cope well, he was even complimented on by some ang moh lady at the restaurant!

Apparently, while Royston was feeding Janelle, this lady actually came up to Royston and told him what a great father he was - to be able to handle baby all by himself, and to attend to her needs so well! Haha, the compliment came as a surprise to us all! But at the end of the day, I guess we are all proud that he managed to handle baby on his own

P/S Testing out this Poll thing...just to see how it works! Do participate :)

Practising "Sit-Ups"

Janelle has recently learnt to move from crawling position to a sitting-up position, and is very enthusiastic about practising this new-found skill! So much so that she ended up repeating the motion over and over again - sit up, tummy down, sit up, tummy down...

Her afternoon nap today was replaced by her self-imposed "sit-up-training" session, where she kept doing the same movements again and again, much to my amusement and frustration. Now she is totally tired out and having her delayed afternoon nap...

Standing

While Royston is away at BB camp this weekend, Janelle has perfected her "daa-daa" sounds. She spent the whole of today practising saying "daa-daa" (and it sounds like she's calling "daddy") - which i'm sure Royston will be most delighted to hear!

At 7.5 months old, Janelle has finally learnt to stand briefly using her hands to hold on to support. Caught a shot of her standing though it's a bit blur and poorly-taken.
